The ultimate way to move across the United States is to ride the train. It only takes about three to four days for you travel from New York to California on this transit system. Tickets to these trips are easily available and the services are operated daily.

The railroad indeed plays a significant part in American history. Many people quiver to get on these railroad expedition. Whether you are looking to enjoy a blast from the past or looking for the perfect spot for next adventure, there is always something interesting in store for you. These great American rides are now even available on train dvds.

Driving across the country is very exhausting. You must make frequent stops to eat and rest. It takes a lot of your time and money. You may be able to enjoy privacy with your loved ones but the effort could drain your strength. You may no longer have the energy to spare as you get to another state. That is why the tube is still the best way to move around the Americas. You do not need to weary yourself through out the entire trip.

Amtrak operates Lakeshore Limited daily. The journey starts at the boarding station at the heart Manhattan. This trip takes the entire night and runs nine hundred and fifty miles. It stops at the Chicago Union station.

When you board this sequential carriage, make sure to get a seat by the window. The thrill of the adventure is just about to begin. You would not want to miss seeing those charming landscapes arrayed on the Hudson river bank.

The Hudson Valley River is replete with many historical vantage points. There is an old, ruined house on Bannerman Island. This spot comes first in line on your viewing itinerary. Then, West Point Military Academy reveals itself from far back. Huge road bridges stretches over all of the Hudson. A graceful panorama of Albany stands on the banks of the river in the west. You will see small pilgrim villages, marinas and marshlands.

The journey through Albany takes roughly nine hours. By this time, you would have already felt your stomach growling or knees tightening. It would be a great time to stretch and grab a snack. Deluxe meals are also served on this coach. They may not be as lavish as those gourmet dishes in a luxurious restaurant but they quite palatable. The reclining seat is very helpful for your sore spine. There are also bunk beds that would give a sleep. They are quite expensive though. When you wake, just ring up for a tasty breakfast.

This is the classic New York Central Railroad route which starts from the Grand Central Terminal up to Chicago, Illinois. The trip passes through a few wonderful towns and cities like Michigan, Rochester and Syracuse. You get to see lush green farmlands when the stage crosses Ohio and enters Indiana. The Elkhart railroad museum will greet you there at eight P. M. About an hour after, the entourage finally arrives in Chicago where you switch caravans at the Union station.

You would then need to drop off at Union station. Then, take another chaise going to California. However, this next trip will not start until afternoon at 2 p. M. But no worries. There are many interesting sights to explore. By the time you board the next trip, you already have a wealth of stories on your journal. You could write an entire book out of this expedition.
